At the Toronto Catholic District School Board, they develop these overarching themes (usually based around “faith”) for their school years that carry over across three years. They call these their “pastoral plans”. For 2018-2021, the theme they came up with was “Rooted in Christ”, with each year representing “we BELONG, we BELIEVE, we BECOME”.
I was tasked with launching an identity and logo for the new “Rooted” plan. The exec team who came up with the idea was adamant about wanting the three years to each represent an aspect of a tree; from the roots, to the trunk, to the flourishing greenery. This was the end result.
